This "package", textbook and lab manual, is designed to be used in a classroom setting. It has plenty of information to keep students busy for a semester. It is much easier to read then a reference book on the same topic. My view is that it is not designed to prepare you for the exam but more to give an instructor material for conducting a successful class. Even the Official Microsoft courses that are taught at Microsoft training centers will tell you that the course will not prepare you 'completely' for the exam. The value from such a course, as in almost all cases, will come from the Instructor and not the book.

If you are looking for a self study book to prepare for the exam, then look elsewhere.

The lab book isn't as bad as the previous commenter make it out to be. There are mistakes but if you have common sense you can see right past them. Most of them won't even make a difference. Like your on the xx computer and at the end it says log off the yy computer. Yes it's an error but you never really have to log off any of the computers throughout the whole lab anyways, so it doesn't matter.

I mean come on. If your getting this book set then I'm pretty sure your trying to get into this field of work. You don't think there are going to be errors throughout your work environment? I did almost all the labs the night before class started and never had one problem.

As for the textbook part. It was a pretty good book. It really gives you just what you need and doesn't have a long drawn out explanation for everything.
